2 Days Mount Toubkal from Marrakech - 2 days Toubkal Ascent from Marrakech

Amazing 2 days Toubkal trek in the High Atlas Morocco Mountains, You will enjoy Jebel Toubkal, which is the highest peak in North Africa. This trek starts from Marrakech to Imlil valley where you will meet our team which is composed of a local guide, mule drivers as well. After a welcome tea at a guesthouse, you will start walking with our guide towards Toubkal Base camp where you will spend the night! During the second day, you will walk uphill to the Toubkal summit, after nice views on the top, you will go down from the top to the refuge have lunch and then return back to Imlil, then drive back to Marrakech.


Itinerary

DAY One: MARRAKECH – IMLIL 1700M – TOUBKAL REFUGE 3207M

After breakfast we have 1h 30 drives to Imlil village, and we will begin the trek. Heading along the Ait Mizane Valley, we first pass Aremd village and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. We then continue east and by crossing the flood plains our route take us along mule tracks and up into the high rocky cliffs above the valley crossing the river we eventually come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims. From here the trail continues to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to the snowline in ( in winter ) and the Toukbal Refuge (3207m), our stop for the night, Approx 4 to 5hrs walking. Height difference 1507m between Imlil and Toubkal hut.

DAY Two: TOUBKAL REFUGE 3207M – MOUNT TOUBKAL PEAK 4167M – REFUGE – IMLIL – MARRAKECH

Early in the morning we make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the screen and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the journey more than worthwhile. When you reach the summit you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking. From here there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. We will retrace our steps when we return down to the refuge have lunch and then head back towards Imlil. 9 to 10 hours walk. Height difference is 960m between refuge and Toubkal peak.

Clothes and Equipments:

Should be dress according to altitude and the environment you will be located in. The most hikers are in high altitude climate in remote area. Therefore, there are often large temperature swings. Temperatures are usually colder at the high altitudes.

Trekking Clothes:

  • Trekking boots or light weight walking shoes. Have comfortable footwear is essential for a good trek. Make sure all footwear is broken in well prior to your trek. Do not break in boots on your trek,
  • A track suit and a pair of track shoes to wear in lodges
  • Two pairs of woolen socks for trekking shoes and track shoes,
  • Warm down jacket and rain proof jacket with hood for protection from rain
  • Warm hat for the cold and sun hat or cap for sunny days
  • A pair of woolen gloves and a pair sandals
  • Cotton T-shirts and pairs of long shorts/skirts
  • Woolen shirts and thick sweaters as well as wind and water proof trousers
  • Pair of light or heavy weight trouser and one light weight long sleeve shirt
  • Pairs of thermal undergarments
