Exploring the highest mountain in North Africa, 4 days Mount Toubkal peak 4167m, see a great views of the Atlas Mountains Moroccan, green valley Berber villages, meet with our team, local guide and muleteers, go to experience this adventure in your life time. Toubkal ascent 4167m is the high peak in Morocco, and is a trek peak. Two days involve walking with crampons and ice axe for security in winter (Oct to May). The way has been designed for keen hikers, as the ascent is non-technical, but involves some easy scrambling and snow slopes. All views from the top are wonderful; across the mountains to Marrakech to the north, and the start of the Sahara desert to the south. All around are the jagged summits of the High Atlas stretching as far as you can see in all directions.


Itinerary

Day One: MARRAKECH- IMLIL 1700M- TIZI MZIK 2684M - REFUGE AZIB TAMSOULT 2250M

After breakfast at the Hotel in Marrakech, take the direction of the High Atlas Mountains Toubkal via Tahnnaout, Oued Ghighaya and Asni, admire the breathtaking view of the Ghighaya valley. Arrival at the village of Imlil (65 km south of Marrakech), meeting with our teams, then departure for the hike and the ascent of the Tizi Mzik pass (2684 m), spectacular view of the Imlil valley and the summit of Toubkal. Then departure to Azib Tamsoulte, night at Refuge Azib Tamsoult, 5 to 6 hours of walking.

Day Two: REFUGE AZIB TAMSOULT 2250M - TIZI AGELZIM 3560M - TOUBKAL REFUGE 3207M

Today involves a fairly stiff climb through Ighouliden waterfalls out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge over the Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3,560m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight in the Toubkal, 6 hours walk.

Day Three: TOUBKAL REFUGE 3207M - TOUBKAL SUMMIT 4167M - TOUBKAL HUT 3207M – AROUM D VILLAGE 1940M

Up early for the climb up Toubkal (4,167m) from where, clouds allowing, you’ll have wonderful views over the Atlas Range and the Sahara Desert then a long way back down past the refuge and the well-worn path back to around village. Overnight in lodge, this is a fairly long day with 8-9 hours of trekking, involving 900m up then almost 2,500m back down to around village overnight in Lodge. 9 to 10 hours walk.

Day Four: AROUMD - IMLIL – MARRAKECH

After breakfast, transfer back to Marrakech.

Clothes and Equipments:

Should be dress according to altitude and the environment you will be located in. The most hikers are in high altitude climate in remote area. Therefore, there are often large temperature swings. Temperatures are usually colder at the high altitudes.

Trekking Clothes:

  • Trekking boots or light weight walking shoes. Have comfortable footwear is essential for a good trek. Make sure all footwear is broken in well prior to your trek. Do not break in boots on your trek,
  • A track suit and a pair of track shoes to wear in lodges
  • Two pairs of woolen socks for trekking shoes and track shoes,
  • Warm down jacket and rain proof jacket with hood for protection from rain
  • Warm hat for the cold and sun hat or cap for sunny days
  • A pair of woolen gloves and a pair sandals
  • Cotton T-shirts and pairs of long shorts/skirts
  • Woolen shirts and thick sweaters as well as wind and water proof trousers
  • Pair of light or heavy weight trouser and one light weight long sleeve shirt
  • Pairs of thermal undergarments
